Someone with the maturity to guide us.

At the end of the day, isn't that what we're all looking for?

I was thinking a bit the other day about where we place our trust.

And how important it is to do so at all.

I think there are two kinds of people in this world.

Those who place all of their trust in themselves. And those who look for external signals to guide the way.

Of course it isn't black and white.

And honestly, I don't really believe the former truly go it alone.

I think they're moonlighters who are too self-conscious to admit they need something to believe in too.

Funny.

At any rate.

That's not me.

I'm in the latter group. A signal watcher. Through and through.

In part because I'm always game to be inspired. And also because I think originality is overrated. And to be honest, a bit boring.

And while I'm reluctant to be a tracer absolute, I love the moments when someone's idea blooms into my own.

That spark of inspiration that comes rocketing through my cerebral cortex when I consume some bit of inspiration.

It could be a cloudy sunset. A pristine sky. The turn of a phrase in a song. Something my 7 year old just said.

And I'm off.

Reeling and dreaming and bringing some iteration to life.

Breathing into it all of the hints of nuance I have to offer.

A different shade of blue.

And those bits of inspiration we seek? Their origin doesn't even matter. Just their impact.

And I think that's really what we're all looking for.

A space and a place. That we can cozy up in. And take stock in. And shelter ourselves just long enough to muster the energy and momentum for our next tack.

That brief moment before we shift our weight and lean into the next edge.

And begin our ascent to find our next someone with the maturity to guide us.

It doesn't have to be profound to unlock that magic.

Just convincing enough for us to believe in for the moment.

Until next time.

P.S. Ground Control is evolving. In the coming weeks, I'll be sharing some new ways we can work together to find clarity and spark breakthroughs. If you've been resonating with these words, stay tuned. The next chapter is going to be something special.
